Facebook Pixel Installation and Conversion API

Before getting started, make sure that on the same browser you're using, you're logged in to the same Facebook Profile with admin access to your Meta (Facebook) Business Manager and Pixel.

Get Your Facebook Pixel ID

Open in a new tab https://business.facebook.com/settings/
On the left sidebar, go to Data Sources → Pixels or Datasets depending on what you're using.



Copy the ID under your Pixel or Dataset name.

This is our own Pixel ID that is used for demonstration purposes only. Your own Pixel will have a different ID you can use.

Get Your Conversion API Access Token.

It's super easy to get your Facebook Conversion API access token! Simply follow the steps in this guide:

Once you get your Conversion API access token, leave the tab open and return to the tab where you have the app open.

Install Your Facebook Pixel & Set Up Facebook Conversion API

Go to your Shopify admin → Easy Pixels & Conversion API app.
Click on New Pixel.



Add a name for your Facebook Pixel, this will help you identify this Pixel later on.



Paste the Pixel ID you previously copied.



Tick the box next to Enable Conversion API.



Return to the browser tab where you generated your access token and click on it to copy it.



Paste the Conversion API access token.



Tick the box next to Enable this pixel.

Testing and Verification

Verify If Your Facebook Pixel Is Installed on Your Shopify Store

Before getting started, make sure you absolutely turn off all ad blocking extensions completely.

Add the Meta Pixel Helper extension on your Chrome Browser.
Open your Shopify store in a new tab.
Run the Meta Helper Extension.
You'll be able to see your Pixel ID detected by the extension, which means that your Facebook Pixel is installed correctly on your website.

Verify If the Conversion API Is Setup on Your Shopify Store

This method allows you to verify both your Facebook Pixel and Conversion API, however, it is not 100% reliable all of the time, as it takes time for your Pixel and Conversion API to show up on your Events Manager.

Go to your Events Manager.
Go to the Pixel you set up on your store.
On the Overview page, click on Manage Integrations.

You'll be able to view both your Conversion API and Pixel set up here.
